CEO & Founder
Caroline Pessoa Murphy
For over thirty years, I’ve worked as a producer and casting director in unscripted television and documentaries. Before television, when I first came to Hollywood, I dreamed of working in the movies. Like many others, I started at the bottom as a PA (production assistant), working my way up and then as an assistant to a major feature film director and A-list actress. While it provided me with great stories to tell and some amazing contacts, I realized that the world of filmmaking wasn’t for me.
In television, my career has spanned almost every genre, from docu-dramas, hidden camera, clips, docu-series, home renovation, business, and fashion to a load of true crime for networks and streamers, including Netflix, History Channel, NBC, ABC, A&E, National Geographic, Discovery, Viceland, Paramount, E! and Lifetime. Some notable and favorite projects were Hustle, The Chair with John McEnroe, Style Star, The Dark Side of, Million Dollar Wheels with Jamie Foxx, The First Mind Hunter, Extreme Makeover, Files of the Unexplained and of course, the glam of working the red carpets for the VMAs, MTV Movie Awards, ESPYs among others. I also spent over five years with Viacom as the multi-platform producer on two of MTV Networks’ biggest hits Laguna Beach and The Hills.
Two years ago, Washington, D.C., came calling (my first full-circle story–ask me about it sometime), and I momentarily stepped out of the entertainment industry. I was privileged to work as a design researcher on an Anti-hate-fueled violence initiative born out of the White House’s United We Stand Summit. It was one of the best working experiences of my life, a real ah-ha moment, and it expanded my network and vision exponentially.
When the strikes hit, and the entertainment industry came to a standstill, I faced a critical moment—a plot twist, if you will. I chose to pivot. Drawing upon my expertise in storytelling, creative thinking, problem solving, advocacy, and my vast network, I founded Epic Minds, a venture driven by my passion for amplifying voices and my inherent belief that every story can make a positive impact.
I couldn’t be more proud to represent this group of good humans, my fellow peers, whom I greatly respect and admire. I am thrilled to be able to help them share their stories and knowledge.
Outside of Epic Minds, I’m a mother of three teenagers who I am head over heels for, and though as hard as they try to convince me otherwise –I still think I’m hip, certainly not that embarrassing, and do know what I’m talking about! I’m an avid animal lover (and yes, I have fostered failed). I cry whenever they sing the national anthem – every time. I am a proud member of the Writers Guild (another full-circle story). I love a good story, meeting people, musicals, documentaries, movies, exploring anywhere, pizza, caramel apples, and frozen Kit Kats.
